Bobby McHardy
Hi! My name is Bobby McHardy (he/him). I am a first-year PhD student in clinical psychology under the supervision of Dr. Leslie E. Roos of the Hearts and Minds Lab at the University of Manitoba. I completed my master’s in clinical psychology at U of M in 2024 and previously graduated with my Bachelor’s in honours psychology and honours mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 2022.
My research interests broadly include the study of social factors associated with child and family well-being (e.g., sociodemographic, socioeconomic factors, access to services). I also have specific interests in social determinants of health, health psychology, and health services psychology. Outside of academics, I try to carve out time to play the guitar, listen to music, read, and go for walks or runs.
I’m excited to join the SPECTRUM Research Partnership as a Fellow because I see a lot of overlap between SPECTRUM’s research priorities and my own interests. I see SPECTRUM’s partnership model as such a powerful way to effect meaningful change for communities in Manitoba. I bring with me some basic experience in policy development at a non-profit organization, experience in statistical programming languages, and surface-level understanding of the Manitoba Population Research Data Repository. I am most excited by the opportunity to learn more about policy evaluation and to gain experience working with interdisciplinary teams of stakeholders.
